Spark Therapeutics has officially broken ground on its $575m gene therapy innovation center in University City. City and state officials gathered to celebrate the start of construction bringing so many changes to the area. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro were among those who spoke at the ceremony, which was followed by a groundbreaking.
Councilmember Jamie Gauthier says in addition to the critical cell and gene therapy development that will have a global impact, it will also help the city’s commerce and job-creation efforts
Designing an event at an active construction site takes a lot of careful prep and planning. We were able to work with Sparks and make Wendy and Christina’s vision come to life with a 40’x40’ Future Trac tent, VIP tent, and guest speaker stage for the event—and we couldn’t be more proud of what we were able to accomplish. Not only did we manage to build a tent in an active construction site, but our team also brought in custom Dura Trac subflooring to create an even and stable 50’x90’surface (and covered it in Spark Green!)
We’re proud to have been a part of this project, which will bring critical cell and gene therapy development that will have a global impact, as well as helping to boost commerce and job-creation efforts for Philadelphia.
The center is expected to be completed by 2026 and we’ll be here to help with the grand opening event!
